gnome-xcf-thumbnailer software package provides GNOME thumbnailer for GIMP XCF files., you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install gnome-xcf-thumbnailer
gnome-xcf-thumbnailer is installed in your system.
Make ensure the gnome-xcf-thumbnailer package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep gnome-xcf-thumbnailer *
You will get with gnome-xcf-thumbnailer package name, version, architecture and description in a table
